How to Make a LiDAR Map using Equator

  1. Visit Equator Studios
  2. Search for a location that you would like to create a LiDAR map
  3. Zoom in using the scroll wheel to focus in on a specific area
  4. When the button on-screen turns green and reads, “Add a New Site Here”, click the button to declare your LiDAR site
  5. In the left-hand sidebar, select a product you would like to build your LiDAR map from
  6. Click ‘Generate’ and our supercomputers will begin to process the LiDAR
  7. Wait a few minutes to see the LiDAR in-app or wait for an email when our supercomputers are done

Step 1: Visit Equator Studios

Once you arrive at Equator Studios you will be prompted with a welcome message. Click ‘Get Started’ to begin the process.

Step 2: Search for a location that you would like to create a LiDAR map

In the search box, type in a location that you would like to navigate to for creating the LiDARmap.

Step 3: Zoom in using the scroll wheel to focus in on a specific area

Our Site Builder tool will take the selected area and prepare it for topographic data. Zoom into a location with a dark outline for the highest quality data.

Step 4: When the button on-screen turns green and reads, “Add a New Site Here”, click the button to declare your LiDAR site

Keep an eye on the button at the bottom of the Site Builder. When you have zoomed in enough the button will change from red to green and you can click it to declare your project site.

Step 5: In the left-hand sidebar, select the product you would like to build your map from

Select ‘In-App Point Cloud’ in the sidebar to create a LiDAR map.

Step 6: Click ‘Generate’ and our supercomputers will begin to process the LiDAR

A window will pop up with additional information for your LiDAR map. You can customize the resolution or leave it at our suggested resolution.

Step 7: Wait a few minutes to see the LiDAR in-app or wait for an email when our supercomputers are done

Once the LiDAR is viewable it will load into your map automatically!
